Scandinavia Express
Services purchased its first coach from Scania Tanzania Limited in 1982.
We now have almost 100 coaches, all built by Scania. Most vehicles were
imported from Brazil with bodies built by Marcopolo Limited. Some
moderately styled coach bodies were also built in East Africa
Using only Scania coaches has enabled the company to standardise
maintenance and spares. Our technical staff are therefore very
proficient and can maintain the fleet at the highest standard. This
ensures an optimum level of safety and reliability for all our
passengers.
Most coaches operated by Scandinavia Express Services have
air-conditioning, whilst the super luxury coaches also have toilet
facilities. It should be noted that our coach classifications are based
on comparison with other modes of public transport in the region.
However our super-deluxe and deluxe classifications compare favourably
with international styles.
Unlike some international counterparts, all our coaches have:
Seat belts.
TV and video facilities.
Music system.
High frequency radio communication equipment.
Speed governor.
Computerized fleet management system to monitor the driver, the vehicle
performance and manoeuvres throughout the journey. All speed limits are
strictly adhered to and there are no un-necessary stops.
Global positioning system (GPS) facilities are being installed across
the fleet. This sophisticated satellite tracking system enables the
precise geographical position of each bus to be monitored at all times.
The system can also detect whether the bus is stationary, in motion and
at what speed it is travelling.
